'RUTHLESS... AGGRESSION!'
June 27, 2002
It takes some kind of guts to answer an open challenge from
Kurt Angle. Turns out there's a lot more than guts in the man who seizes this
opportunity. John Cena makes SmackDown viewers' jaws drop with a slap that
echoes through the arena, then nearly pins the Olympic gold medalist after a
battery of power moves. Despite the loss, Cena gets the WWE Universe asking,
"Who is that!?" in a flash.
THE WWE CHAMP IS HERE
April 3, 2005
With his face printed on $100 bills raining down from the
ceiling, you could say JBL isn't too worried about John Cena at WrestleMania
21. Once the pomp and circumstance is out of the way, though, John Cena wipes the
smile clean off JBL's face by enduring Layfield's most vicious shots before
mounting a brilliant comeback to capture the WWE Championship – a milestone
title that Cena revamps with his own flashy "spinner" version.
IRON RULER OF THE RIVALRY
October 25, 2009
Most WWE rivalries can be settled in such a brutal match as
Hell in a Cell. But Cena vs. Orton is a far cry from the typical rivalry; it's
more like a lifelong grudge. Putting his spot on Raw at stake, john Cena wages war
with The Viper at WWE Bragging Rights in an Anything Goes WWE Iron Man Match.
While both men pull out all the stops in the 60-minute brawl, it's Cena who delivers
in crunch time to reclaim the WWE Title.
RAP'S FIVE-KNUCKLE STAR
May 10, 2005
After taking on WWE's biggest Superstars with his scathing
freestyles, john Cena shoulder-blocks the entire rap game as his debut album,
"You Can't See Me," becomes an instant hit. The album, which reaches
No. 15 on the Billboard 200 chart and No. 3 among rap albums, also includes the
longstanding battle anthem for The Cenation Commander-in-Chief, aptly entitled
"My Time Is Now."
TAKING BATISTA OVER AND OUT
May 23, 2010
Take it from Cena: there's more than one way to skin The
Animal. The last battle in an intense trilogy is fittingly an "I
Quit" Match at WWE Over the Limit, with Cena's title on the line. When
Batista refuses to quit after an Attitude Adjustment onto a car, the threat of
another A.A. is enough to make The Animal bow out. Mercilessly, Cena then
launches Batista through the stage – his one-way flight out of WWE.
PLAYIN' WITH THE GAME
April 2, 2006
Much like JBL, Triple H refuses to recognize Cena as a
formidable threat, claiming it's going to be the "easiest match of his
life." Undaunted, The Champ brings out the heavy artillery – literally –
for his first WrestleMania main event, as he's flanked by a group of gun-toting
gangsters at WrestleMania 22. The match is anything but easy for The Game, who
can't escape the painful clutches of Cena's STF and taps out.
CENATION GOES HOLLYWOOD
October 13, 2006
As Cena's star in WWE continues to rise, so does his
potential to cross over as a mainstream celebrity. Next stop: Hollywood. Cena
takes over the big screen as John Triton in the action-packed drama "The
Marine," paving the way for many other TV and film roles such as Detective
Danny Fisher in "12 Rounds" and Fred's dad in "Fred: The
Movie."
SHOWSTOPPER FEELS THE STF
April 1, 2007
Already having taken out one former member of D-Generation
X, Cena sets his sights on conquering Mr. WrestleMania himself, Shawn Michaels.
In front of an all-time Ford Field record attendance of 80,103, Cena's
tricked-out Mustang roars through the Motor City and into WrestleMania 23,
where The Champ makes a bloodied HBK submit to retain his WWE Championship.
SUPER RETURN AT NO. 30
January 27, 2008
Even a torn muscle can't keep the heart of Cenation from
beating strong. Just a few short months after suffering an injury on Raw, Cena
shocks the WWE Universe when he returns as the final participant in the 2008
Royal Rumble Match. Cena goes on to win the match by tossing Triple H over the
top with a mighty Attitude Adjustment, showing that he hasn't lost a single
step in the power department.
BREAKING ANOTHER WALL DOWN
November 23, 2008
A very familiar foe – and outcome – greets Cena in his
comeback from another injury. Whatisdifferent is the type of gold around his
waist at Survivor Series. Facing Y2J for a major title for the first time in
three years, Cena fights out of The Walls of Jericho, kicks out of The
Codebreaker, and finally uses his brute strength to capture his first World
Heavyweight Championship.
NIGHTMARE IN THE NEXUS
October 3, 2010
So long, Cenation. Hello … Nexus!? In a twisted turn of
events orchestrated by Nexus leader Wade Barrett, The Champ is forced to join
the armbanded cabal following a match against Barrett at WWE Hell in a Cell.
Things only get worse from there as Cena tries to dismantle the group from
within, but gets fired for his attempt instead. Cena's retribution would come
two months later with a win over Barrett at WWE TLC.
CALLING OUT THE GREAT ONE
April 4, 2011
For the first time ever, the main event for WrestleMania is
set a year in advance. And as far as main events go, this one's a certifiable
dream match. All the hatred between Cena and The Rock finally comes to a boil on
Raw as the two monster Superstars agree to settle their beef on The Grandest
Stage of Them All, instantly making WrestleMania XXVIII one of the most
electric events in WWE history.
SURVIVAL AT ROCK BOTTOM
November 20, 2011
Never before, and without a doubt, never again. The People's
Champion accepts Cena's offer to be his tag team partner at Survivor Series,
though the unlikely pairing comes with a painful price. The Brahma Bull shakes
off seven years of ring rust to help Cena defeat The Miz and R-Truth, then, in
the time it takes him to raise one eyebrow, The Great One lays out his
WrestleMania opponent with a thunderous Rock Bottom.
CLIMB TO THE TOP
July 15, 2012
John Cena always stands up to any challenge no matter the
odds. At Money in the Bank, he faces four former WWE Champions in a Money in
the Bank Ladder Match for a WWE Championship Contract. The Cenation leader
ascends the ladder and adds Money in the Bank winner to the accolades of his
illustrious career.
RUMBLING AGAIN
Jan. 27, 2013
For the second time in his astounding career, John Cena wins
the Royal Rumble Match by last eliminating the massive Ryback. With his
victory, Cena earns a WWE Title Match at WrestleMania, which just so happens to
be against the man who beat him at the event last year, The Rock.
TWICE IN A LIFETIME
April 7, 2013
In the most important match of his career, John Cena faces
WWE Champion The Rock at WrestleMania one year after falling to The Great One
on The Grandest Stage of Them All. In front of more than 80,000 fans in MetLife
Stadium, Cena beats the iconic Superstar to avenge his previous loss and
reclaim the WWE Title.
